about magnificent desolation
For years I've found myself in the unfortunate position of looking at something and wishing I had a camera to take a picture of it. Finally I've decided to do something about it.
The name describes the game around here, and I'll be primarily taking pictures of decay of various sorts, from crumbling old buildings to bleak landscapes. There is a certain beauty in a vast emptiness, in the quiet stillness of a structure long forgotten. There is something breathtaking about being the only person around, surrounded by total silence before a sweeping, reddening sky.
I don't profess to be even any good at this, let alone a professional. For me, this is all practice and hopefully you and I will both notice a progression as the number of galleries increases. For now, let's just see where this takes us.
I shoot everything with a Canon Digital Rebel XT SLR, don't play with too many filters except a UV haze reducer and a circular polarizer, and will do my very best to avoid cliche black and white shots.
